Spotlight on Senator Mary Cavanagh

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Senator Cavanagh (D-Redford) chairs the Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection Committee, the Labor and Economic Opportunity/MEDC Subcommittee, and the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs/Department of Insurance and Financial Services Subcommittee and she’s the vice chair of the Economic and Community Development Committee. Additionally, she’s a member of the following committees: Appropriations; Department of Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee; Housing and Human Services; Labor; and the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee.

Before her election to the Senate, she served two terms in the Michigan House. Prior to elected office, she worked in project development and community outreach.

Senator Cavanagh represents the 6th Senate District, which includes portions of Oakland and Wayne Counties.
