Shaquila Myers was named to the Michigan Public Service Commission this week by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. She is appointed to represent Democrats for a term commencing July 21, 2025, and expiring July 2, 2031. Ms. Myers succeeds Alessandra Carreon, whose term expired.
Ms. Myers:

- Most recently, she served as senior advisor to the governor. Prior to that, she served as chief of staff to then-Speaker Joe Tate.
- She previously worked in the executive office as chief of staff to Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist. Additionally, she worked as legislative director for former Senate Democratic Leader Jim Ananich and a policy analyst for the Michigan Senate.
- Myers holds a Master of Public Administration and an undergraduate degree from Oakland University.

- The mission of the Michigan Public Service Commission is to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible energy and telecommunications services at reasonable rates for Michigan residents.
- The Commission is composed of three members appointed by the Governor to serve staggered six-year terms. No more than two Commissioners may represent the same political party.
The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
