Leading up to the November 5 general election, we are highlighting races generally considered swing seats.

District Overview:

The district includes Lapeer and the townships of Deerfield, Elba, Hadley, Lapeer, Marathon, Mayfield, Metamora, and Oregon in Lapeer County. In addition to the townships of Forest, Genesee, Richfield, and Thetford in Genesee County, and Watertown Township in Tuscola County.

Commentary:

Republican Representative Phil Green is running for a fifth term in the Michigan House. While the district base is lean Republican, Representative Green has successfully run for this seat four times, and this year he’s running against a political newcomer. Given that, he’s well-positioned to secure reelection heading into November.

Democratic Candidate:

Republican Candidate:

    • Representative Phil Green – State Representative, former youth pastor, senior pastor, and assistant to the pastor, and provided chaplain services to Sheriff Deputies, Sheriff Administration officials, and jails.
