General Election Overview: 28th House District

Leading up to the November 5 general election, we are highlighting races generally considered swing seats.

District Overview:

The district includes Brownstown Township, Flat Rock, Rockwood, Woodhaven, and portions of Taylor, Berlin Township, and Frenchtown Township.

Commentary:

Representative Jaime Thompson (R-Brownstown) is serving her second term in the Michigan House. She’s running for a third term, facing a local elected official. Rep. Thompson won a second term in 2024, securing 54.5% of the vote, increasing her win margin from her first term. This will be a highly competitive race and will play a key role in which party controls the majority.

Democratic Candidate:

    • Sherry Berecz – Brownstown Township Supervisor, former Township Clerk and Trustee.
