The end of summer and the beginning of fall is seen as the “Back to School” season. I view it as an opportunity to focus on organization and accessories. In order to be successful, we need convenience, efficiency, and a dose of style. An everyday carry (EDC) bag can help your day and life run smoother. I confess, though, that I have one too many of these bags. However, each one has its purpose. Plus, we all need to rotate on occasion.

My favorite EDC bag is my red Tumi backpack. It has easy-access compartments and can fit just about every electronic I own all at once. It is roomy enough for me that if I need it to use on a flight for a quick overnight or to hold an extra set of clothes in case my luggage is lost, I’m covered. The color is probably my favorite part because it stands out among all of the other backpacks in my house making it easy to locate.

My next favorite is my crossbody bag, which also happens to be a family favorite. We are always fighting over who gets it. It is super comfortable and can carry enough for short travel to a museum or a day walking around downtown. My kids love it because if we are out sightseeing or hiking it is comfortable yet can hold just enough of what we need without feeling like it weighs too much. Despite its smaller size it also has a bottle holder, unlike other sling bags of its size. Once on, you barely notice it.

Finally, my current EDC for work is a conference goodie that I received for being a panelist at an event for the Michigan Community Colleges Association (an MLC client). This bag is super light and can hold my laptop and other key essentials. I love the mesh holders inside that allows me to see what is in the pocket. No need to dig into multiple pockets! Plus, there are several outside pockets that can hold just enough, such as an ID badge. I love that I can use it cross-body or over the shoulder.

When you think of fall, consider upgrading or adding to your everyday carry bag. With so many options available, you can find the one (or two or more) that will help make your daily activities easier. Best of all, the right EDC bag will keep you organized and hopefully a little stylish.
