Record-Breaking Early Voting

With two weeks to go before the General Election, Michigan voters are casting their ballots early. Thus far, more than 1.15 million voters, which is almost 16% of the state’s active registered voters, have already cast their ballot.

Key Points:

    • 5,100 Michigan residents voted at an in-person early voting site, including a record-breaking 2,504 voters in Detroit the first weekend.
    • The City of Detroit was the first jurisdiction in the state to start early voting on Saturday, October 19. On the first day, 1,888 voters cast a ballot.
    • The City of East Lansing and Canton Township began early voting on Monday, October 21.
    • Statewide early voting begins on Saturday, October 26.
    • Thus far, 2,268,186 Michigan voters have requested an absentee ballot. Of those, 1,147,041 have been completed and returned.
