The plan includes:

    • Enabling students to enroll in more career and technical education courses.
    • Modernizing the Michigan Merit Curriculum to include new course options such as construction math, accounting, computer science, coding, and trade.
    • Expanding dual enrollment to include trade schools.
    • Launching a pilot program to explore alternatives to the M-STEP, spreading testing throughout the year.
    • Eliminating fees for teaching certificate applications, renewals, and endorsements.
    • Allowing for more consolidation of administrative services across districts.

Next Steps:

    • The bill package was referred to the House Government Operations Committee for consideration.
