On Tuesday, February 27, Michigan will hold its Presidential Primary Election. Voting has been underway since February 17, when early voting sites opened statewide. This will be the first Presidential election since Proposal 2 of 2022 was adopted, enacting voting reforms including at least nine days of early in-person voting. Early in-person voting runs through Sunday, February 25. On the first day of early voting, 6,587 voters cast their ballots. Additionally, as of seven days before the election, 747,534 voters have submitted their absentee ballots.
Republican delegates in the primary race will be allocated in a new way this year. The winner of the February 27th election will receive 16 delegates at the Republican National Convention. The remaining 39 delegates will be based on caucus results at the March 2 state party convention.
