Senators Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Twp.) and Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) introduced legislation they hope will improve access to care for drivers severely injured in auto accidents.

Key Points:

    • In 2019, the legislature reformed the first-party personal injury protection portion of the no-fault auto insurance system, including creating provider fee schedules and attendant care limitations.
    • The bills would make changes to the reimbursement structure under the Medicare fee schedule, establish a new non-Medicare fee schedule, and address home care limitations, among other proposals.

Next Steps:

    • The bills were referred to the Senate Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection Committee for consideration, which is chaired by Senator Cavanagh.
