House Democratic members introduced legislation aiming to lift barriers that prevent individuals from voting and to encourage voter registration.

Key Points:

    • Removes the challenged ballot requirement, which makes a ballot challenged if an individual registers on Election Day, even if they have ID and proof of residency.
    • Lifts the current prohibition on paid rides to the polls.
    • Allows individuals to pre-register to vote at 16.
    • Codifies current policy allowing an elector to apply for an absent voter ballot online through the Secretary of State portal.

The bills were referred to the House Elections Committee for consideration.
