Michigan’s July 2023 seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6%. During the month, employment grew by 22,000 and unemployment rose by 1,000.
- Michigan’s rate was one-tenth of a percentage point above the national rate.
- The statewide labor force participation rate advanced by three-tenths of a percentage point from the prior month to 61%.
- The Detroit-Warren-Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area’s unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a percentage point to 3%.
- The most pronounced over-the-year industry job gains were in state government and education and health services.
