Spotlight on Senator Jim Runestad

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Senator Jim Runestad (R-White Lake) is serving his first term in the Michigan Senate where he serves as the assistant Republican caucus chair and the ranking Republican on the Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety. In addition, he sits on the Health Policy Committee and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.

Prior to his election to the Senate, he served two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives and spent three terms as an Oakland County Commissioner. Before holding public office, he owned and operated an insurance company and spent time working with at-risk students. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University.

Senator Runestad represents the 23rd Senate District in Oakland County.
