Spotlight on Representative Kristian Grant

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Representative Kristian Grant (D-Grand Rapids) is serving her second term in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Biography

She entered public service as the youngest person ever elected to the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education, serving for six years, including two as board chair. As a real estate entrepreneur, she invested in urban redevelopment, transforming properties to better serve communities. Beyond the legislature, she has served on multiple local boards, including the Grand Rapids Master Plan Committee, Southtown Corridor Improvement Authority, Promise Zone Authority, Convention Arena Authority CIG, SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority, and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.

Representative Grant earned her BA in social relations and policy from Michigan State University.

District

Representative Grant represents the 82nd House District, which includes portions of East, Southeast, and South Grand Rapids, in addition to part of Wyoming.

      • A – As a child, I wanted to be a lawyer and a business owner.

      • A – I love to watch football and catch a baseball game.
