Next month, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) will hold its regular commission meeting in Grand Rapids, instead of its typical location in Lansing. The Commissioners hope to broaden public engagement in regulatory activities by meeting outside of its Lansing headquarters.

Details:

    • The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m.
    • It will be held at Grand Valley State University’s L.V. Eberhard Center, 301 Fulton Street W. in downtown Grand Rapids.
    • The meeting will be both in person and livestreamed on Microsoft Teams.
    • There will be time for the public to provide input on matters before the Commission or other concerns or comments.

MPSC:

    • Its mission is to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible energy and telecommunications services at reasonable rates.
    • The Commission regulates the natural gas, electricity, and telecommunication industries.
    • It’s comprised of three members appointed by the governor, each serving six-year terms.
    • No more than two Commissioners may represent the same political party.
