Primary Election Overview: 59th District

Through the primary election on August 6, we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. The candidate’s website, professional information, and a sample of known endorsements are listed when available.

District Overview

The 59th House District is located in Macomb County, including Shelby Township.

Commentary

Representative Doug Wozniak is running for reelection in the House, facing Jean Zott in the primary race. This district is viewed as a safe seat for the Republican party; thus, the primary winner is likely to win in the general election.

Democratic Candidate:

    • Jason Pulaski

Republican Candidates:

    • Representative Doug Wozniak – State representative, former Michigan Senator and Shelby Township Trustee, small business owner, attorney.
    • Jean Zott – CPA and corporate controller, small business owner
