Jason Palmer began his role as director of the Michigan Unemployment Agency (UIA), succeeding Julia Dale who resigned in January.

- He most recently served as the Assistant Commissioner at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Regional Commissioner for the Chicago Region.
- Prior to that, he was the director of Michigan’s Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives.
- Palmer has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Wayne State University, and a doctorate in Sociology from MSU. He received his Juris Doctorate from the MSU College of Law.
