Looking Ahead to the Week of February 15 – 21, 2025

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

In observance of Presidents Day, MLC will be closed on Monday, February 17.

The Senate is scheduled to hold session Wednesday and Thursday, and the House is scheduled to hold its typical Tuesday – Thursday session schedule.

On Friday, February 21, Michigan’s minimum wage is set to increase to $12.48/hour and the tipped minimum wage is set to increase to $5.99. Additionally, the new Earned Sick Leave Time law is also set to take effect. While the legislature is working on bills that would amend these changes, unless both chambers pass, and Governor Whitmer signs legislation, the changes will go into effect.
