Mostly on a party-line vote, the Senate Appropriations Committee reported over a dozen state budget bills.

Legislation requiring all school districts statewide to introduce cell phone policies was passed by the Michigan Senate.

Earlier this year, Governor Whitmer signed an executive directive, directing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to identify the potential impact that proposed Federal cuts to Medicaid would have on the state. The report was released last week.

Following a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee, the Department of State has provided an additional 1,900 pages of material.

On Monday, May 5, the Department of Health and Human Services joined communities statewide in recognition of May 5 as Missing and Indigenous Persons Awareness Day.

In our weekly “Five Things We’re Reading” feature, we shared articles on the best-paying side hustles, purple honey, and more.
