Legislation establishing a state-run program providing eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of job-protected paid leave was reported by the Senate Housing and Human Services Committee.

Bipartisan legislation expanding the Freedom of Information Act to include the executive office of the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the legislature was reported by the House Government Operations Committee.

Legislation removing protections for the firearm industry from civil liability was reported by the House Judiciary Committee.

Legislation making reforms to Michigan’s workers’ comp system was reported by the Senate Labor Committee.

In the latest in our spotlight series, we feature Representative Curt VanderWall, Republican vice chair of the Health Policy and Higher Education Committees.

In our weekly “Five Things We’re Reading” feature we shared articles on the economic impact of the Eras Tour, the science behind college football scheduling, and more.
