House Passes Voting Reform

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Legislation allowing the spouse and/or dependent of an active duty servicemember, serving overseas, to vote electronically was passed by the House this week.

Key Points:

    • The legislation was introduced by Representative Carol Glanville (D-Walker).
    • Under current law, active service duty members can vote electronically beginning in 2024.
    • This bill expands that to include spouses or dependents of an overseas member who is also overseas, beginning August 1, 2025.

Next Steps:

    • The bill will be sent to the Senate for consideration.
