General Election Overview: 54th District

Through the general election on November 5, we will highlight races generally considered swing seats. The candidate’s website and professional information are listed when available.

District Overview

The 54th House District is located in Oakland County, including Bloomfield and portions of Auburn Hills.

Commentary

This southeast Michigan seat is viewed as a toss-up due to the district base. Representative Steele is running for a second term in the House. This November, she will face political newcomer, Shadia Martini, as both parties work to hold a majority in the House next year.

Democratic Candidate:

  • Shadia Martini – Owns a real estate brokerage firm, construction company, and medical spa.

Republican Candidate:

  • Representative Donni Steele – State Representative, worked in real estate, including roles as owner, associate broker, manager, and realtor, as well as a former Orion Township Treasurer and Trustee.
