General Election Overview: 46th District

Through the general election on November 5, we will highlight races generally considered swing seats. The candidate’s website and professional information are listed when available.

District Overview

The 46th House District is located in Jackson and Washtenaw counties.

Commentary

Representative Schmaltz is running for a third term in office. This November, she will face Democratic candidate Daniel Mahoney, who has served as a locally elected leader since 2014. This will help him with name identification in a portion of the district. Due to the makeup, this seat is seen as a toss-up and both candidates will campaign hard to win this November.

Democratic Candidate:

    • Daniel Mahoney – Mayor of Jackson, runs a nonprofit, a former Jackson County Commissioner.
