Senator Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton) introduced legislation in response to the decision by the Michigan State Capitol Commission to ban guns inside the Capitol Building.

Key Points:

    • The Commission’s rule has an exemption for current legislators who possess a valid concealed pistol license to carry within the building.
    • Senator Hoitenga’s bill would extend that exemption to all valid concealed license holders.
    • The bill was referred to the Senate Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety Committee for consideration.
