During Fiscal Year 2024, Michigan added 27,000 according to data released by the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget.

Key Points:

    • The construction sector reached a 20-year high with 200,000 employed.
    • Construction also had the strongest sector growth, increasing 6.6% for the year.
    • The labor participation rate went above 62%, which is its highest level since 2009,
    • Michigan’s unemployment rate is 4.5%.
    • Average hourly wages for manufacturing workers are up 5% from the prior year, growing twice the rate of inflation.
    • Total private sector hourly wages are up 4.2% year over year.
