Supreme Court Candidates

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

In addition to President, U.S. Senate and House, and the Michigan House, voters will cast their ballots in a couple of weeks for two seats on the Michigan Supreme Court.

Justice of the Supreme Court, full 8-year term:

    • The Democratic Party nominated Kimberly Thomas – She is a professor at the University of Michigan School of Law, an appellate attorney, and a Fulbright Scholar award recipient.
    • The Republican Party nominated Representative Andrew Fink – He is serving his second term in the Michigan House of Representatives, and he is an attorney and Marine Corps Veteran.

Justice of the Supreme Court, partial term ending January 1, 2029: Justice Harris Bolden was appointed by Governor Whitmer to fill the vacancy created when former Justice Bridget Mary McCormack retired.

    • The Democratic Party nominated Justice Kyra Harris Bolden – Prior to her appointment to the Bench, she served two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives and previously worked as a criminal defense and civil litigation attorney.
    • The Republican Party nominated Judge Patrick O’Grady – He has served on the 15th Circuit Court bench since he was first elected in 2008. He is a former member of the Michigan State Police and a U.S. Army Veteran.
