This week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced three appointments to the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County.
Robbie Gaines, Jr.:

- The appointment fills a partial term following the resignation of Judge Leslie Kim Smith and commences on September 14 and expires on January 1, 2029.
- He is a founding member of Gaines Law Firm, PLC.
- Serves on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Bar Association and as a Commissioner for the State Bar of Michigan. Additionally, he is the past president of the Wolverine Bar Association and a member of the Michigan Association of Justice and the Augustus Straker Bar Association.
- He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Wayne State University.
Robyn Liddell:

- The appointment will be made to fill a partial term following the upcoming resignation of Judge Kevin Cox and will commence on October 5 and expire on January 1, 2029.
- She is currently the Chief of the Criminal Trials Division at the Michigan Department of Attorney General. She’s served in the department since 2014.
- She’s the past president of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
- She earned a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in African-American studies from Oberlin College.
Rula Aoun:

- The appointment will be made to fill a partial term following the upcoming resignation of Judge Muriel Hughes and will commence on September 14 and expire on January 1, 2029.
- She is a partner at Cochran, Kroll and Associates and serves as a Magistrate Judge at the 19th District Court.
- Judge Aoun is a board member and volunteer attorney at the American Arab Civil Rights League.
- She earned a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and French from the University of Michigan.
