The Growing Michigan Together Council Jobs, Talent, and Economy workgroup kicked off its field meetings this week in Traverse City. The field hearing allows experts to answer questions and share data, policy solutions and lessons learned. The workgroups will share recommendations with the council in October.

Growing Michigan Together Council:

    • Established by Governor Whitmer in June 2023.
    • It is tasked with developing a long-term vision addressing current and future challenges to set Michigan up for success in the 21st
    • It consists of four workgroups: Infrastructure; Jobs, Talent, and Economy; PreK-12 Education; and Higher Education.
    • The Council will submit its findings in December 2023 by submitting a report to the governor, Michigan House of Representatives, and the Michigan Senate.

In addition to field hearings, the council launched the Growing Michigan Together Tour, including stops at community events and regional forums designed to discuss local challenges and growth opportunities.
