Representative Cam Cavitt (R-Cheboygan) could be subjected to a recall petition after the Board of State Canvassers approved the recall petition form.

Key Points:

    • The recall backers will have 60 days to collect signatures.
    • They must collect just under 12,000 signatures, which is equal to 25% of the total votes for governor in his district.
    • The reason behind the recall was Representative Cavitt’s vote to elect House Speaker Joe Tate (D-Detroit) as the speaker.

Representative Cavitt:

    • Serving his first term in the House of Representatives.
    • His district includes Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle County and portions of Oscoda and Cheboygan.
    • Representative Cavitt serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
