The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provided updates on the ending of the federal public health emergency for COVID-19.
Medicaid Redeterminations:

- Beneficiaries will have to renew their coverage this year as Michigan resumes eligibility redeterminations to comply with federal legislation as the public health emergency ends.
- Renewals for traditional Medicaid and the Healthy Michigan Plan begin monthly starting in June 2023 through May 2024.

Testing:

- DHHS will continue supporting free over-the-counter test distribution through the Michigan library program. Tests shipped via Project Act will be supported until at least June 2023.
- Free tests will continue at neighborhood and community testing sites.
- No-cost testing will continue for Medicaid recipients through September 30, 2024.
Vaccines:

- All currently distributed vaccines are considered federal assets, thus there will continue to be no cost.
- The shift to commercial vaccines is projected for the fall.
Therapeutics:

- The federal government purchased a supply of antiviral treatments that will continue to be available at no cost. However, after that supply is depleted, costs will depend largely on the type of health insurance an individual has.
- No-cost coverage will continue for Michigan Medicaid recipients through September 30, 2024.
Data:

- COVID-19 remains a reportable disease in Michigan. Case, death, and demographic information will continue to be regularly posted.
- Negative test and case reporting is being discontinued in some jurisdictions in the US.
- Michigan will continue to receive positive test results.
