Spotlight On Senator Lana Theis

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Senator Theis (R-Brighton) is serving her second term in the Michigan Senate.

Biography

Prior to her election to the Senate, she served two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. Senator Theis also served as Brighton Township Treasurer from 2008 to 2014.

She received her bachelor’s degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry, from California State University.

District

Senator Theis represents the 22nd Senate District, which includes Livingston County and parts of Genesee, Ingham, Oakland, and Shiawassee counties.

    • What’s your favorite travel destination outside of Michigan?
      • A – If I’m traveling for leisure, anyplace with palm trees and beaches.
    • What’s your favorite hobby other than politics?
      • A – I am very interested in studying history. I didn’t like it while I was in school, but I find it fascinating now.
    • What did you want to be when you were a kid?
      • A – I wanted to be a veterinarian, I love animals.
    • What’s your favorite game to play or sport to watch and/or play?
      • A – Unfortunately, I don’t play sportsball, but I do enjoy target practice.
