Senator Jon Bumstead (R-North Muskegon) serves as the Minority Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. In his role, he’s the ranking Republican on the committee, which is responsible for crafting the state budget and overseeing all appropriations throughout the year.
Senator Bumstead is serving his second term in the Michigan Senate, following three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. In addition to the standing Appropriations Committee, he serves on the following Appropriations Subcommittees: Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity/MEDC, and Transportation. Senator Bumstead also serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Fiscal Agency Board of Governors. Prior to public office, he owned and operated Bumstead Construction.
He represents the 32nd Senate District in West Michigan. The district includes Benzie, Mason, Muskegon, and Oceana counties and a portion of Manistee County.
