Senator John Damoose (R-Harbor Springs) is the Republican Vice Chair of the Education Committee and the Appropriations Transportation Subcommittee. He is a member of the following committees: Appropriations, Energy and Environment, Housing and Human Services, Joint Capital Outlay, and the Universities and Community College Subcommittee,

Senator Damoose is serving his first term in the Michigan Senate. Prior to public office, he worked in radio and television broadcasting, including owning his own production company. His interviews include two presidents, numerous secretaries of defense, and chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Additionally, he is a published author.

He represents the 37th Senate District, which includes Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau counties and portions of Mackinac and Chippewa counties.
