Senator McBroom (R-Vulcan) is serving his second term in the Michigan Senate.

Biography

Prior to his election to the Senate, he served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. Outside of elected office, Senator McBroom is a fourth-generation dairy farmer and operates his family’s 100-year-old farm.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in music education and social studies secondary education from Northern Michigan University.

District

Senator McBroom represents the 38th Senate District, which includes Alger, Baraga, Delta, Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, Luce, Marquette, Menominee, Ontonagon, and Schoolcraft counties and contains portions of Chippewa and Mackinac counties.

    • What’s your favorite travel destination outside of Michigan?
      • A – I love to visit historic places around the U.S. Any monument, historic marker, or scenic overlook is a favorite stop.
    • What’s your favorite hobby other than politics?
      • A – Music is my most significant hobby- singing, piano, horn, and directing bands.
    • What did you want to be when you were a kid?
      • A – Shortstop for the Tigers, U.S. congressman, railroad engineer, or astronomer.
    • What’s your favorite game to play or sport to watch and/or play?
      • A – Baseball and chess. Additionally, I collect stamps and water ski.
