Senator Dan Lauwers (R-Brockway) serves as the Minority Floor Leader, having been elected to the leadership role by his peers. He also serves as the Minority Vice Chair of the important Energy and Environment Committee and as a member of the Government Operations Committee and the Regulatory Affairs Committee.
Senator Lauwers was first elected to the Michigan Senate in 2018 after serving three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. Prior to his election, he worked for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the National Milk Producers Federation. Additionally, he served as a legislative assistant to former Congressman Bill Schuette. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics with an emphasis on marketing from Michigan State University.
He represents the 25th Senate District, which includes Huron and Sanilac Counties and portions of Tuscola and St. Clair Counties.
