Primary Election Overview: 58th District

Through the primary election on August 6, we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. The candidate’s website, professional information, and a sample of known endorsements are listed when available.

 

District Overview

The 58th House District is located in Macomb County, including Sterling Heights, Utica, and Warren.

Commentary

Representative Nate Shannon is running for a fourth term in the House. While he’ll sail through the primary race next month without an opponent, he will need to campaign hard heading into the general election as this seat is seen as a toss-up.

The Republican primary race has two candidates vying for the seat: Roger Goodrich; and Ron Robinson, a local elected official and small business owner.
