Charged with improving the juvenile justice system, the Juvenile Justice Advisory Council held its first meeting this week.
Council Tasks:

- Review department policy and practices.
- Provide support to prior and current juvenile justice youth, adults, and their families.
- Share their experiences and suggestions for how the system can be improved.
- Review job training and skill development.
- Look for improvements to residential facilities.
Background:

- The Council was established within the Department of Health and Human Services.
- It was recommended by the Michigan Task Force on Juvenile Justice.
- Members serve two-year terms.
