This year marks the 50th anniversary since the founding of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). RMHC aims to help families and communities who are facing health issues by removing barriers to access and costs. One of the most notable ways RMHC provides service is through their Ronald McDonald Houses, which provide free housing for families to stay while their children are receiving treatment in nearby hospitals. There are five RMHC locations in Michigan located in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, and two locations in Ann Arbor. In addition, they also bring health care to areas in need through their Care Mobile units, which provide a variety of healthcare services at free or reduced prices.
To honor RMHC’s dedication and hard work to support families and communities in need, the Michigan House and Senate passed resolutions honoring the organization and the impact they have had on people’s lives. The resolutions were sponsored by Representative Stephen Wooden and Senate Majority Floor Leader Sam Singh. During session, Legislators on both sides of the isle shared heartfelt stories about how the RMHC has helped their loved ones and constituents. Attending House and Senate session to hear comments and be recognized for their efforts were leaders of all five Ronald McDonald Houses, several local franchise owners, representatives from the McDonald’s cooperate office, and even the famous character, Grimace.
