Governor Awards Two Grants to Fund Infrastructure Projects

Governor Whitmer awards grants to fund Infrastructure Projects to support more than 1,500 jobs in Chippewa and Oakland Counties.

Key Points:

  • The Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) grant helps finance public transportation projects that improve trade and commerce.
  • Governor Whitmer has announced two state Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) grants to support 1,525 new jobs and $3.5 billion of private investment in Chippewa and Oakland counties.
  • The first grant is for the Oakland County Road Commission; Orion Township will see improvements in the traffic flow around the future General Motors plant location.
  • The City of Sault Ste. Marie is the second grant recipient; the UP’s Carbide Dock Port will experience a smooth flow of commerce and tourism.
