General Election Overview: 44th District

Through the general election on November 5, we will highlight races generally considered swing seats. The candidate’s website and professional information are listed when available. 

District Overview

The 44th House District is located in Calhoun County, including Albion, Battle Creek, and Springfield.

Commentary

Representative Jim Haadsma is running for a fourth term in the House. While this district is viewed as Democratic-leaning, his reelection isn’t a guarantee. His Republican opponent does have significant name ID due to his service on the County Board of Commissioners.
