Economic Indicators Report Released

The nonpartisan Senate Fiscal Agency released the April 2025 Michigan Economic Indicators Report. The report provides economic highlights on both the national and state levels.

United States:

    • Consumer sentiment fell for the fourth consecutive month by 8.4% from the prior month.
    • The consumer sentiment level in April was the lowest since June and July 2022.
    • Oil prices fell 6.9% month-over-month and were 25.6% from the prior year.

Michigan:

    • Seasonally adjusted wage and salary employment increased by 0.4% from the prior month.
    • The professional/business services sector had the strongest job gains.
    • Seasonally adjusted motor vehicle production grew 8.2% from March. However, it was 9.2% below the prior year.
    • Michigan’s share of total motor vehicle production was the lowest since February 2024.
