Economic Committee Members Appointed

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Two appointments to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Committee were announced. The committee provides policy direction and guidance to the MEDC regarding economic development programs and initiatives, approves the MEDC corporate budget, and appoints the CEO.

Appointments:

    • Sarah Gonzales is the director of state and local government affairs for Delta Air Lines. She previously worked as director of public affairs in the Whitmer administration, and deputy chief of staff for the Department of State, among other roles. She is appointed to represent businesses for a term commencing August 29 and expiring April 5, 2028.
    • Renee Tomina is the senior vice president of the project management office at DTE. Previously she was vice president of gas operations and director of revenue and projection at DTE. She is appointed to represent businesses for a term commencing August 29 and expiring April 5, 2028.

MEDC:

    • Its mission is to achieve long-term economic prosperity by investing in communities, enabling the growth of good jobs, and promoting Michigan’s strong image worldwide.
    • Its strategic focus aims to position Michigan at the leading edge of economic development nationwide.

The appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
