On Tuesday, the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) Board approved two major development projects. The first, a $40 million expansion by Hudsonville Ice Cream in Holland. Hudsonville’s project is supported by a $700,000 state grant and a 15-year tax exemption. The second project, a $19 million relocation by defense contractor MV5X Industries (Veptos) to Imlay City. Additional MSF approvals include funding for EV supplier support, health venture capital, small businesses, bond refinancing, and tourism promotion.

Hudsonville Impact: This expansion will renovate production facilities, add a new line for frozen yogurt bars, and create at least 44 new food manufacturing jobs starting at $22/hour with benefits. The project support ongoing local recruitment, strengthening Hudsonville’s role as a key economic and manufacturing contributor in the region.

Veptos Impact: Veptos’ relocation will create 20 jobs at $21/hour by renovating a vacant bus plant and adding new facilities. The move supports $80 million in defense contracts with several European countries and strengthens the region’s advanced manufacturing sector. Construction is set to be completed by 2030.
