June Revenue Grows

Michigan’s major taxes and net lottery revenue totaled $3.3 billion last month, an increase of 8.3% from June 2024. The June 2025 collections came in about $64 million above prior projections, according to the latest report by the nonpartisan Senate Fiscal Agency.

Key Points:

    • General Fund collections were $71.8 million more than estimated, while School Aid Fund collections came in $17 million less than estimated.
    • Through June 2025, fiscal year-to-date General Fund collections were $72.9 million more than projections; likewise, School Aid Fund collections were $12.1 million more than prior estimates.

Taxes:

    • Net income tax revenue was $1.5 billion last month, a 15.5% increase from the prior year.
    • Sales tax receipts totaled $940.1 million in June 2025, an increase of 2.4% from June 2024.
    • Use tax collections were $227.8 million, a 3.6% decline from the prior year and $19.1 million less than estimates.
    • Sales tax collections from motor vehicle sales totaled $113.3 million, an increase of 34.6% from June 2024.
