September Revenue Up

As MLC’s Communications and Social Media Manager, Liz Gullett keeps clients informed and up-to-date on the goings on in Lansing and the Capitol.

Last month, major taxes and net lottery revenue came in at $3.7 billion, an increase of 1.7% from September 2023. Additionally, total collections were $106.1 million more than prior estimates, according to the monthly report by the Senate Fiscal Agency.

Key Points:

    • General Fund/General Purpose collections totaled $165 million above projections, while School Aid Fund collections were $60 million less than prior estimates.
    • Year-to-date General Fund collections are $475.4 million more than projections and School Aid Fund collections total $66.7 million more than estimates.
    • Net income tax revenue was $1.6 billion last month, a 20.2% increase from the prior year.
    • Sales tax receipts were $897.8 million last month, a 5.1% decline from the prior year.
