Primary Election Overview: 33rd District

Through the primary election on August 6, we will highlight races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. The candidate’s website, professional information, and a sample of known endorsements are listed when available. 

District Overview

The 33rd House District is located in Washtenaw County, including portions of Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Charter Township, and York Charter Township and Saline, Bridgewater Township, Lodi Township, and Saline Charter Township. 

Commentary

Representative Felicia Brabec (D-Ann Arbor) decided against running for reelection, leaving this seat open. This seat is considered safe for the Democratic party, making that primary race key to who will likely represent this seat next year.

Democratic Candidates:

    • Morgan Foreman – Constituent services director for Representative Brabec, served on the Washtenaw County Brownfield Development Board, Michigan Political Leadership Program graduate.
      • Endorsements – Representative Felicia Brabec, Saline Mayor Brian Marl, Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor.
    • Rima Mohammad – Ann Arbor Board of Education member, University of Michigan clinical professor.

    • Jason Rogers
