In a marathon session day, the House and Senate voted to approve the state budget for the next fiscal year. The budgets are a 3% increase from the current fiscal year and include a significant amount of one-time funding. Included in the budget is funding to bring the state’s rainy day fund to $2 billion and a 5% increase in revenue sharing for counties, cities, villages, and townships.
Education:

- A 5% increase in university and community college operations.
- A 5% increase to per-pupil funding, bringing the total to $9,608 per-pupil, an all-time high.
- $328 million for school safety and student mental health.
- $450 million for a new rainy day fund for schools.
Infrastructure:

- Nearly $600 million for water infrastructure projects.
- $416 million to improve roads and public infrastructure.
- $43 million for power grid resiliency.
- $21.3 million for electric vehicle and renewable energy charging infrastructure.
Public Safety:

- A 9 % increase in public safety funding.
- $156 million for equipment, technology, and facility improvements.
- $30 million for recruitment, retention, and well-being of first responders, corrections officers, and state troopers.
