This week, Representative Sheldon Neeley (D-Flint) was elected to serve as the next mayor of Flint. He is currently serving his third term in the House and will need to resign his seat before taking the oath of office as the Flint mayor. Governor Gretchen Whitmer will call for a special election to fill the remainder of his term, which expires December 31, 2020.
