Three trails and three communities were recognized as Pure Michigan Trails and Pure Michigan Trail Towns by the Department of Natural Resources during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism this week.

    • Haywire Grade in Schoolcraft and Alger Counties
    • Kal-Haven Trail in Van Buren and Kalamazoo Counties

Pure Michigan Trail Towns are towns that have been identified as vibrant places where trail-based tourism meets the needs of both trail users and town residents. The newly designated trail towns are:

    • Cheboygan in Cheboygan County
    • Orion Township in Oakland County
