A recipient of the Super Lawyers Rising Star Award (’18, ’19, & ’20), he brings his recognized expertise from the legal field to partner with our clients to successfully achieve their goals.
Prior to joining MLC, Michael was an attorney at Butzel Long, focusing in government and regulatory affairs, as well as business and employment litigation. He’s worked with numerous industries, from healthcare to education to commercial retail. Michael has expertise representing clients in state and federal civil litigation and dispute resolution.
Experienced in political campaigns, Michael has worked with candidates at the local, state, and federal level, including, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist’s 2017 campaign for City Clerk, the Duggan for Detroit campaign 2013, Governor Whitmer’s gubernatorial election, and Senator Gary Peters campaign in 2014.
Michael began his career working as a high school English teacher and went on to become the founding principal at Cornerstone Health + Technology High School where he worked to secure community partnerships and set the strategic vision for the school. He then went on to serve as principal of Hamtramck Academy.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in English degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.
Outside the Office
In his free time, Michael enjoys landscaping, running, hiking, and reading biographies. He lives in Detroit with his wife Evette and their son, Ethan.
