Dr. Michael Rice was selected this week by the State Board of Education to serve as the new State Superintendent. The board has undergone a lengthy process of interviews to find a new superintendent following the death of former State Superintendent Brian Whiston in May 2018. Following the final round of interviews on May 7, the board voted 5-3 to appoint Dr. Rice.
Dr. Rice currently works as the Superintendent of Kalamazoo Public Schools. It is anticipated that he will begin his new role this summer.
